About Us

Whether you are just discovering the joy of dance for the first time, or are looking for advanced instruction and competitive opportunities, we welcome you into the dance family at SPSOD.With a focus on enjoyment, SPSOD offers students, ages 3 and up, a solid technical foundation and many opportunities to learn, perform and explore their creativity through dance. We are proud that many of our students have gone on to professional dance careers as performers, teachers and choreographers.

Originally started by Eileen Dodds in 1960, the Sherwood Park School of Dance legacy of loving, teaching and celebrating dance continues with daughter Barbara Dodds, granddaughter Amy Shuchuk and grandson Brian Shuchuk.

All of us here at the Sherwood Park School of Dance are excited to share the art of dance with you.

Teachers:
Our classes are taught by professional teachers who have dedicated their lives to dance and who have maintained a high standard of excellence.

Benefits of dance training at the school:
Dance classes at the school provide students with increased self-confidence improvement in posture, coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and most important enjoyment. All classes perform in the year end show at Festival Place Theater.

Classes at the Sherwood Park School of Dance of: Gr. 2 Tap & up, Gr. 1 Ballet & up, Jr. 2 Jazz & up, are entered into two dance festivals each year. This provides more performing experience for the dancer and they receive an adjudication from the judge and a medal standing. Hip Hop classes also enter a festival.

Students from the school also perform solos and duets entering many festivals while receiving numerous medals, top awards, and scholarships each year.
